Plimmerton entrance wave balustrade
Entrance waves for Plimmerton
Working with landscape designer Linda Kirkmeester’s wave concept, I created designs for the stainless steel balustrade installed on the bridge at the entrance to Taupō Plimmerton village in Porirua.
Each panel represents a traditional local Māori landmark with the name being water etched into the steel. Taupō is the Ngati Toa name for this area. Hongoeka Marae shared some of the rich history behind the names and the waves evolved into this beautiful structure to welcome people to Taupō Plimmerton.
